Quality
The overriding objectives of AirRadio are to ensure that we deliver services and products that meet our customers' requirements and where possible, we aim to exceed our customers' expectations.
We intend to develop an environment within which each and every member of the organisation understands the part they have to play, have the skills and authority to achieve their goals, and where excellent service and products are synonymous with business success.
With this in mind, our Quality Management System is certified to ISO 9001: 2000. We have also achieved accreditation for both our Environmental (ISO 14001: 1996) and Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001: 1999) Management Systems.
Compliance
As a service provider, AirRadio takes a proactive stance regarding compliance to the regulations surrounding our own communications industry and that of our customers in the air transport industry.
All new equipment provided from our portfolio meets the RoHS Directive which covers "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment" and came into force 1 July 2006. This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, and flame retardants polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE).
In addition AirRadio employs a process to meet The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) that came into force 2 January 2007. The WEEE Directive aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment, and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.
As a distributor of communications equipment AirRadio complies with our obligations under The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, regarding the treatment and recycling of portable batteries waste. AirRadio offers a waste service at any place it supplies such batteries to end-users and will advise customers of such service at the point of sale and will take back waste portable batteries at no charge. AirRadio will not charge end-users for this service nor oblige end-user to buy a new battery. AirRadio will dispose of battery waste through an approved scheme for the treatment and recycling of portable batteries.
After acknowledging that the world is making more use of vehicle based wireless technology for driver support, asset tracking and road transport management; the FCS published an update to the installation code of practice for wireless equipment in vehicles in May 2008. An installer bears the responsibility for ensuring that wireless equipment, irrespective of technology, is safely placed in the vehicle. AirRadio has been a member of the FCS for many years and adheres to all their codes of practice relevant to our business. Our guiding principle when undertaking installations is to ensure any equipment is located in a safe and sensible position; specifically not to breach driving regulations but more importantly to ensure it does not cause any physical harm to the driver in the event of an accident.

The Future
It is our intention to continue growing our presence at all UK Airports so that we can offer the best, managed services to our customers. As competition between airlines and their support partners grows ever more intense, the ability to communicate in the sometimes heated and pressurised atmosphere of the aircraft turnaround becomes more vital. It is the desire of AirRadio to become the first name that is thought of in these situations.
We continue to develop our product portfolio, providing not only our traditional offerings such as Trunk and Ground to Air Radio, but also on-site and wide-area mobile data solutions, on-site and wide area cellular services, control room systems, a range of wireless mesh and broadband solutions, all within a support and consultancy framework.
Our growth in other mission critical industries has been lead by the provision of Cellular Services and Vehicle Tracking Applications, but it is AirRadios communications expertise and the knowledge of mission critical environments that allows us to look at all aspects of your business processes to identify ways to improve efficiencies. Our portfolio as outlined above and on other pages of this site are available to all clients.
Our team is always ready to discuss communication pains that you may be experiencing. Please contact us, we can help.
AirRadio, Team Telecom Group and Spice Plc
On August 27th 2003, AirRadio Ltd, a member company of the Team Telecom Group (TTG), purchased Speedwing Mobile Communications (SMC), a part of Speedwing International Limited, a subsidiary company of British Airways plc. SMC was created in 1974 from British Airways Ground Radio Department and became part of Speedwing in 1990 when it began to provide services to other airlines and airline service partners, including ground handling companies.
AirRadio Ltd was created by TTG for the sole purpose of purchasing Speedwing Mobile Communications and conducting its business commitments. AirRadio had no previous trading history. As a standalone business, AirRadio now has the independence craved to forge a market leading position within the industry.
Team Telecom Group represents a unique grouping of telecommunications companies providing communications expertise in systems integration, managed services, network operators and manufacturing for a wide range of business to business markets.
AirRadio is a member of the Team Telecom Group. Team Telecom Group is a business unit within the Distribution Division of Spice plc.
